Larry and Mary Jensen opened Jensen’s Vac & Sew in Morris IL in 1992. Larry, a trained and experienced vacuum and sewing machine repair serviceman, brought a level of expertise to the business that was appreciated by customers from all over. There are still those today who travel across state lines to have Larry work on their machines because they trust his accurate and meticulous repairs.
Mary has been sewing most of her life, gaining skills that have led her to many opportunities including the achievement of becoming a licensed Martha Pullen instructor both in Heirloom Sewing and Basic Beginning Sewing. Although she loves sewing clothing, Mary also has experience with quilts, home décor, and crafts. Having met Tim Gunn personally she loves TV shows like Project Runway.
A few years ago, Larry and Mary expanded their store to include the Joliet, IL location, now known as The Sewing Store. Their niece Connie, an experienced sewist with an interest in fashion and design, had also joined the family business. Both she and Mary are experienced using computer embroidery software on both Mac and PC. Connie is now a student of Fashion Construction and Design and no longer works for us since she has relocated to Chicago. We wish her the best, we will miss her creative touch at The Sewing Store.
Visit The Sewing Store today and let us share our love of sewing and the creative process with you.
